This privacy policy applies to the Caltrain Commuter app available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Caltrain Commuter is an independently developed app and is not affiliated with Caltrain, the PCJPB, or any Caltrain-related entity.
I respect the privacy of my users and only collect information as outlined below in addition to the purchasing analytics data provided by the App Store and Play Store.
Location: All location processing is handled on-device. I do not have access to any location data.
Push notifications: To provide push notifications, the app generates and sends me a unique anonymous identifier. A list of which notification types are requested is connected to that identifier, as well as the device type (iOS or Android). No other data is connected to that identifier.
Errors/Crashes: When the Caltrain Commuter app encounters an error or crashes, the app automatically sends a report to me including information such as:
- Your IP (internet protocol) address, and internet connection type and status
- The device type and operating system you are using
- The date, time, and device status when the error occurred
- Debugging information to troubleshoot the error
This data will not be published, sold, or used for any means other than fixing the bug or crash, improving your experience using the app, and in continued development of the Caltrain Commuter app.
Your Rights: If you are located in certain countries, including those that fall under the scope of the European General Data Protection Regulation (AKA the “GDPR”), data protection laws give you rights with respect to your personal data, subject to any exemptions provided by the law, including the rights to:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Object to the use and processing of your personal data
- Request that I limit my use and processing of your personal data
- Request portability of your personal data
Please contact me for information regarding the personal information I have about you. EU individuals also have the right to make a complaint to a government supervisory authority.
